I was shocked and didn’t even suspect that a game as simply designed as Vector Runner, would be able to satisfy a need for speed. What this game lacks in visual grandness, it makes up for with an exciting driving game that would certainly pump a little adrenaline off your glands.

It would seem a little uninteresting and confusing at first when you just look at the thumbnail, but when you have already started the game and grasped the instructions at the beginning, brace yourselves for some crazy fast driving action. This game is already featured on different websites and even has an iphone version! So what makes it so good?

You would be steering a blue rectangular vector and drive through a long, black highway and I have to say it isn’t as easy as it sounds. The left and right arrow buttons are the only directions you’d be pressing, because it has auto-accelerate and absolutely no brakes (you can press enter to pause the game but it would take away 250 points and it will also signify that you are not awesome).You will avoid many obstacles that randomly spawn ahead of you like pyramids and EMP mines that will blind you for a bit that would make you hit who-knows-how-many of those triangle vectors and sticking as close to the side won’t help you stay alive for long. And when you do drive through one, it will would bust one of your shields, decrease your speed, and make your screen flash red; enough to give you a mini-heart attack. Collect the power-up cubes for bonus points, shield recharges and invincibility for a limited time. You just have to drive by it closely enough to get it but be careful because sometimes they will appear very near to a pyramid vector and you might hit it which is of course not cool.

Soon, the speed would be very incomprehensible and you may not be able to make proper judgments in time and have a game over before your score gets too high for you to be proud enough to submit it to the leader boards. By then, you would be driving with pure instinct, see how much this game does to you?

It may not be the most colourful game around, and the objects in the game do not contain much visual design, in fact they are just polygons that you would be passing by as you speed through the darkness, but that’s okay because graphics aren’t really necessary in a game, or at least, in this one. The beating music of the game is very good though and, and the sound of your car is very much like a hovercraft in futuristic movies which makes the ride much more exhilarating. Even if you have already played it multiple times, you’d still play some more to get a high score that you can submit for a little comparison with others who also took up the challenge, same as you. Overall, the game gets an 8.5 over 10. Fasten your seatbelts!
