Tilt 2

When you see that a particular game is the sequel already, you know that the first one must have been a game that tickled the gamer inside a lot of people. That’s how it is for Tilt 2, and we know what happens in every second version of a game; it is either improved, or changed. It was the latter for this one, although the fun and entertainment of the first game remains intact.

Do you remember balancing sticks in your hand (or a finger if you’re that awesome) and moving to the left or to the right to keep the stick from falling? Well that idea was used by Alex Heaton, an England-based web and business developer and that’s what pushed the Tilt games into existence. It must be one of the simplest mechanics ever thought of for a game and everyone will surely feel the need to not let go of the mouse soon enough after a first try.

You start with something to balance hanging down from your mouse cursor, flip it and the game starts. In the first game, you balance a dish on top of a stick. When you reach a certain score, the stick becomes shorter, making it harder to balance. In Tilt 2, you are now balancing a Y-shaped stick, a bit easier right? Not until you find out that balls will be raining from above. They will accumulate on top of your stick, but you can manage a few balls. As you play longer, you’ll forget that this is an “easy” game. The challenge arises and finally when you can’t balance anymore, the stick will slowly tip to a side, stopping your hard earned score from getting any better. But a competitive man cannot accept a score too low! You’ll be flipping that stick back up again until you’re satisfied with your score, or if you’re already too frustrated because you can’t go past 500.

If you have played the first game, you’ll notice that the background music is gone. The insults shown after a game over is also absent in the second game. But don’t let that stop you? It’s still the fine game that you’ll want to play over and over again for a couple of times to prevent a possible death-by-boredom.
